There are several objects in Facelift that can be assigned to people and/or teams. Objects is a blanket term here. These are, for example, posts, dashboards, profiles, etc. There are various strategies and functionalities dependent on the object, that are explained below.

πŸ’‘ Even if the look of the modals varies across Facelift, the functionality described below is not affected by this.

Team assignment

Generally, you can choose between the following for the team assignment

  • My teams: If you select My teams, all teams you are a member of, receive reading and writing permissions. The respective inheritance strategy of the object is then applied to possible parent teams and sub-teams.

  • My teams and sub-teams: If you select My teams and sub-teams, all teams you are a member of, as well as their sub-teams, receive reading and writing permissions. The respective inheritance strategy of the object is then applied to possible parent teams.

πŸ’‘This function is only available if the total number of teams and sub-teams is less than 100.

  • Only specific teams: If you select Only specific teams, you can select individual teams to whose parent teams and sub-teams the respective inheritance strategy of the object is then applied.

πŸ’‘ By default, you can only see your teams and their sub-teams in the overview. The inheritance strategies are still applied to the parent teams. To be able to see all teams in the assignment modal, you need the appropriate permissions.

Automatic team assignment of media library files

If you do not want to select the team assignment individually each time you upload media assets to the media library, you can define your default teams in your account settings. The strategy as described above will then be applied to these teams.

πŸ’‘ As long as no default team is selected, the Default Teams field will only appear as soon as you click on Edit.

Assigning elements in Engagement

You can assign elements in Engagement (messages, comments, etc.) if you are in the same team as the person or in a higher-level team. Two different teams that have access to the same profile cannot assign elements to each other.

You can find out more about assignment in Engagement here.

Permission to view the team structure

To be able to view the complete team structure of your company when assigning teams, you need the View Team Structure permission. You (or your admin) can find this in the permission sets under Global.
