You can manage Instagram Business accounts in Facelift, publish posts and moderate comments.
Add an Instagram account
Before you can connect an Instagram account to Facelift, a few requirements must be met:
The Instagram account is a professional account
Help with switching
The Instagram account is linked to a Facebook page
Help with joining
💡 For every Instagram account you want to connect, you absolutely need a Facebook page to which it is linked, even if you don't want to use it. You may hide the page on the network itself.
You are an admin on the Facebook page to which the Instagram account is linked
Help with roles on the Facebook page
If you have fulfilled all these requirements, you can start the connection process in Facelift.
💡 For a smooth process, we recommend using the incognito mode of your browser.
Make sure that you are logged in to Facebook with the profile that has admin rights on the page that is linked to the Instagram account
In the settings, go to Profiles
Go to Add Profiles and select Instagram
You will now be redirected to Facebook - even if you want to connect an Instagram account.
If you selected the profile with admin rights on the linked page on Facebook, confirm that you want to continue with the profile. If necessary, you can change the profile in this step.
💡 If you previously connected profiles and would like to add another profile, please select Edit Settings. Otherwise, only your previously connected profiles will be updated
Select the Facebook page that is linked to the Instagram account you want to connect. Don't worry - this will not connect the Facebook page to Facelift!
Now select the Instagram account you want to connect to Facelift.
Now you can take a look at the permissions that you grant Facelift.
Click Got it to return to the profile overview in Facelift.
You will now find the profile you have connected to in the profile overview.
💡 After adding an Instagram account, you have to update the access token of the linked Facebook Page if you are also managing this Facebook Page in Facelift.
Enable or disable Direct Messages (DMs)
To receive or deactivate Direct Messages (DMs) in Facelift, you need to check the following settings for your profile(s) on your smartphone:
📲 Select or deselect Allow access to messages in Settings > Privacy > Messages of your Instagram account in the app
Help with setting this up
Once you have checked these settings, you'll need to refresh the access tokens, i.e. the connection of your Instagram accounts. You can read up on how this works here.
Manage and update access tokens
The profile management options are in the three-dot menu next to the respective profile. Here you can make profile settings, assign teams, and delete the profile.
You can also update your access token or connection. From time to time, the tokens lose their validity for security reasons and must be renewed. It is also possible to set several tokens for a profile. This prevents the connection to Facelift from being disrupted if one of the tokens expires unexpectedly.
💡 We recommend 2-3, but no more than 4 tokens per profile.
Refresh Connection
Select Refresh Connection
Log in with the profile that has admin rights on the page linked to Instagram
If your Access Token has expired, you may have to repeat the same steps as when you first connected. You can find more about this at the top of this article
Select the profile to be updated
You have now successfully updated the profile
