In this article, you’ll learn how to set up and link a WhatsApp profile in Facelift using a Meta Business Portfolio. We’ll guide you through connecting a WhatsApp Business Account to Facelift, verifying a phone number, and ensuring everything is properly configured in Meta Business Suite.

Steps in Facelift

💡 To set up and connect a WhatsApp profile you need a Meta Business Portfolio→.

In Facelift navigate to the profile settings or click on this link.

Select WhatsApp and click on Connect on the next screen. With this click the embedded Sign-up flow of Meta starts. Log in with your credentials for your Meta Business Suite. Click on Continue afterward and on Get Started on the next screen.

Select the Business portfolio (or create a new one) and click Next.

On the following screen, choose Create a new WhatsApp Business Account or select an existing account that has not been connected to any system before. Additionally, on the same screen, choose Create a new WhatsApp Business Profile (phone number) or select an existing one that has not been previously connected to any system. Once done, click Next.

If you create a new WhatsApp Business Account, ensure the name complies with Meta’s regulations, particularly regarding the display name

💡 In our experience, unverified display names typically result in no incoming messages.

Next, add the phone number. You can use any number as long as it can receive SMS or calls for verification. We recommend using a landline number for call verification.

Ensure the phone number is not already linked to WhatsApp on the web or any mobile device. If it is, refer to this FAQ for guidance and resolve the issue.

Once ready, click Next to proceed. Verify your phone number by entering the code sent via text or received through a phone call. After entering the verification code, click Next to continue.

Review permissions and Continue. Process and click Finish. Now you will be redirected to Facelift and the success screen should show up.

We are taking care to register the phone number at Meta and register webhooks to receive incoming messages.

All received WhatsApp messages will be displayed in Engage.

Status Check in Meta Business Suite

Log in to your Meta Business Suite via the provided link→. To get to the correct settings interface, open the drop-down menu on the left, select the correct portfolio and click on the settings icon for the corresponding account. This will load the settings interface where you can manage users, pages and accounts.

Click on WhatsApp Accounts, and in the overview that appears, select WhatsApp Manager at the bottom right, or access it directly using this URL.

Check the following things:

  • phone number is connected

  • display name is visible

    • if not, go to settings and enter a new one

    • process by Meta takes some time

  • generate message link (QR code) if needed for marketing material or likewise

    • 💡 only displaying the phone number is ok as well

You can now send a message from any mobile phone with WhatsApp installed to the connected phone number. The chat will indicate that this number uses a secure tool by Meta to manage messages. Received messages are displayed in Engage.
