Unscheduled Content

Sometimes you want to start working on content before you know exactly when it should be published.

Written by Lena Semmler

Instead of assigning a date immediately and filling up the Calendar with content that is not ready to be scheduled yet, you can simply leave the publication date empty.

This works for:

  • Post-Sets and Contents: leave out the publication date

  • Frames: leave out the date range

You can still create, edit, review, assign, and prepare the content as usual. It simply stays outside the publishing timeline until you are ready to schedule it.

There are two ways to work with unscheduled content in Orchestrate.

1. Unscheduled Content from the main navigation

Open Unscheduled Content from the left navigation to see a table with all unscheduled Post-Sets, Frames, and Contents. This is the best place to get an overview, filter the list, check statuses and responsibilities, and find content that still needs to be scheduled.

2. Unscheduled Content in the Calendar

You can also open Unscheduled Content directly in the Calendar sidebar. This is useful when you are actively planning your publishing timeline.

From there, you can:

  • Drag unscheduled content onto the Calendar to schedule it

  • Choose or adjust the publication date and time

  • Drag scheduled content back into the sidebar to unschedule it again

This gives you a flexible way to move content between preparation and scheduling without losing track of it.

Status and unscheduled content

For Contents and Frames, being unscheduled can be independent of the workflow status. A blog post, for example, can already be In Review or Approved without having a publication date.

Post-Sets work differently: they follow a predefined publishing workflow, and actions such as scheduling or sending a post for approval require a publication date.
