Meta has announced that several Facebook insights metrics will be deprecated on September 16th, 2024, as the data is no longer relevant or useful for the new Pages experience, or is no longer aligned with industry standards. To read Meta's full announcement, click here.

We understand that these deprecations can be challenging, especially since many long-standing metrics are affected. This change impacts not only us, but all third-party Meta Partners who rely on Meta's APIs.

What happens to your dashboard?

We will not update any existing metrics. If you need help updating your dashboards or have any questions about which metrics to focus on moving forward, feel free to get in touch with us.

Which data source columns are affected?

We will further provide data for this metric based on an own calculation:

= page_posts_impressions - page_posts_impressions_paid

Unfortunately, there is no accurate replacement. An approximated calculation could be:

= page_posts_impressions_unique - page_posts_impressions_paid_unique

⚠️ UPDATE: ⚠️

After further data analysis the following calculation has the closest data match:

page_impressions_viral_unique + page_impressions_nonviral_unique

There is unfortunately no exact logical replacement. However, we could provide some suggestions, so you can decide how to adjust your performance strategy.

The post_engaged_users metric is defined following: Number of unique people who engaged in certain ways with the Page post

  1. You could make use of the non unique metric which will provide you all engagement happened on any of your post.

    = post_activity_by_action_type_like + post_activity_by_action_type_comment + post_activity_by_action_type_share

  2. If you are interested in an approximated number you can use following calculation:

    = post_activity_by_action_type_unique_like + post_activity_by_action_type_unique_comment + post_activity_by_action_type_unique_share

Be aware, if a user liked, commented and shared a post the value will be 3 in compare to the post_engaged_uses which would have been 1.
