With label types and related labels, you can structure different objects in Facelift.
💡 Labels can currently be used for campaigns, events, ideas and Amplify interests. These are called objects in the following.
While labels are mainly used in Ideate, there are also Tags that are used in Engagement, the Publisher and Analytics. In the long term, we also plan to migrate tags to labels to make them more flexible.
Label Types
💡 Label types are the parent category of labels. Each label is assigned to exactly one label type.
To manage label types, go to Settings > Labels > Label Types→. There you can create new types via +Label Type. When creating a label type, you can specify for which object (e.g. event) this label type and its related labels should be available.
If you create a new label type that should only apply to events, for example, you select event as Object Relations when creating the label type. You will then see your new label type when you create events.
Label type settings
You can also specify for the label type whether it should be mandatory. This means that at least one related label must be selected when creating the object (e.g. an event). You also decide whether a label type should be publicly manageable. If you set a checkmark here, all your Facelift users with the appropriate permission for this label type can create, edit or delete the labels.
Manage label types
Via the three-dot menu you can click on Edit to customize the label types. Some label types are automatically created by the system. These cannot be deleted, because they are integral to the various objects (e.g. events) in Facelift. They are marked by a lock symbol.
💡 The label type Interests belongs to Amplify. You can learn more about it here.
Labels
To manage the labels, go to Settings > Labels > Label Management→. There you can create new labels via +Create Label. When you create a label, you give it a name and a colour and select the related label type. You also define for which teams the label should be visible.
Manage labels
In the label overview, you can search for labels by entering text or filtering the view to a specific label type. You can edit or delete a label via the three-dot menu at each label.
Creating interests, event and campaign types
To create new interests, event types or campaign types, create a label with the respective label type under Settings > Labels > Label Management→.
Necessary permissions
To create and edit labels and label types, the following global permissions are needed:
Create Labels
Update Labels
Delete Labels
Company-wide label management: With this permission, the user can create, update and delete all labels and label types, regardless of whether the label type is configured as publicly manageable.
Read Labels: Allows the user to read labels. This is a necessary permission to create and manage campaigns and events.
Example use case
You plan and organize events and the communication and marketing around them with your team. For events, you always want to specify which suppliers are needed.
So you create a new label type called "Additional Resources" for the object event. To do this, select Event in the object relations when creating the new label type. In this case, you would not check the box for Mandatory, because additional resources are not required for every event.
You check the box for Publicly manageable because your neighbouring team should also be able to create new "Additional Resource" labels for their online events.
Based on the resources you need, you create labels with the new label type "Additional Resources" you just created. These could be labels like "Catering", "Music" or "Flowers". You also decide that your labels should only be visible to your team. The neighbouring team that organizes online events wants to create other resources. You will then only see your own labels and don't get confused by the other team's labels.
Now you can use your labels within your new label type when you create a new event.
