Tweet types

Written by Mareike Kittner

In this article, you can read about what type of Tweets there are and how we break them up for analysis reasons.

Own Tweets: If a handle created a Tweet, and it’s not a Retweeted Tweet or Reply, then it’s considered an Own Tweet, sometimes referred to as original content.

Retweeted Tweets: If a handle retweeted another handle’s Tweet, this Tweet is considered a Retweeted Tweet.

Replies: A Tweet is considered as a Reply if it responds to another Tweet. This includes Tweets starting with a mention (“@handle here is my reply”), which are also considered as a Reply.
